Hi, I’m Chiara Tammaro, an interdisciplinary artist originally from Leeds, UK, and now based in Groningen, The Netherlands. I moved here in 2015 to study Fine Art at Academie Minerva, and since graduating, I’ve dedicated myself to creating meaningful connections between art, community, and activism.

In my artistic practice, I work primarily with steel, wood, and plaster to create interactive sculptures that emphasize functionality and social engagement. Drawing inspiration from familiar forms like food, industrial machines, furniture, and children’s toys, my work invites reflection on everyday objects and their potential for connection.

I describe my approach as resourceful and impactful, using collaboration, adaptability, and practicality as guiding principles.

Beyond my practice, I co-founded MOC to address the gap in affordable, long-term, and well-equipped studio spaces in Groningen. Over the past six years, I’ve led the development, construction, and governance of MOC to support both artists and musicians. Additionally, I serve as the project manager at Stichting Landfall, where I focus on the development and support of multiple public-facing artworks from communication to production.

Whether through my sculptures or my work in supporting other creatives, I’m passionate about constructing situations and environments that engage with the public and encourage meaningful dialogue.
